Traumatic Brain Injury

Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) occurs after violent head trauma, such as would occur after a military explosion, a car crash or a bicycle fall. It is reported that an estimated 2,000,000 cases of TBI occur every year in the United States, resulting in 750,000 emergency room visits and 500,000 hospitalizations. These violent head injuries cause vascular disorder and disruption of blood flow to vital brain tissues. Based on previous successful studies in animal models of TBI, we believe infusions of our drug has the potential to properly re-vascularize areas of the brain damaged by TBI and lead to a gain in function. TBI is currently thought of as an unmet medical need.
